We can use the seating arrangement in a
large theatre as a metaphor for the levels of consciousness. The lowest seats, the ones closest to the drama
on stage, represent the lowest level of consciousness. These seats are so close to the drama, that
they feel virtually connected to it.
They can only see what is directly in front of them. They have no awareness of all the other seats
above and behind them and do not realize that for every seat there is another point
of view.
The seats at the top can be seen to have
a higher consciousness because they can see the existence of all the different points
of view and are most likely to be aware that they are actually in a theatre and that
what they are watching is just a play.
